Editing is where the magic happens. Where characters come to life and the plot gets refined. Where I drink way too much coffee or too much wine. Where I mutter to myself about how I managed to write two chapters in a row that will both be axed. And, inevitably, where my cat gets fed up with the hours upon hours I spend at my desk and resorts to ferociously licking my nose, her foolproof way of getting my attention.
